The works on display in the exhibition are the result of the two residencies of Harry Adams (pseudonym of the collaboration of the two British artists, Adam Wood and Steve Lowe) in the sacred mountains of Umbria.

The first, in September 2023, with a more contemplative approach. The second, more recent, in May 2024 with a nucleus of monumental works that complete and balance the more humble and figurative ones of the first residency.

Three catalogues have been made for this exhibition: the first featuring the paintings made during the first residency on Monteluco, another featuring paintings made during the second residency, and the third contains a text/poem written by writer Neal Brown during a visit to the artists on the sacred mountain.

Two new screen-print painting editions now available

Harry Adams - Pylon & Swan screen-print painting

Pylon & Swan Screen-Print Painting Series

The image in these screen-print paintings is derived from a photo taken in Hackney Wick from the shore of the canal in 2004/5, long before the London Olympics and subsequent regeneration of the area.

Back then that part of East London was a post-industrial toxic wasteland populated only by dodgy scrap merchants, the Pram Man, a few artists and a recording studio.

COLLLIDER X Screen-Print Painting Series

A new series of monotype screen-print paintings.
Starting from Harry Adams landscape paintings, converted into silk-screens images which have then be overlayed to build up new frenetic layers of colour and texture.

Selected Paintings 2008 – 2020 ARCHIVE COLLECTION 1/3

This is the first in a series of curated collections of paintings from the Harry Adams Archive to be offered for sale.

13 pieces in each collection will be offered.

Many pieces have never been exhibited or seen outside of the studio.

Most have never been offered up for sale.

We are now keen to find good homes for these works to clear room in the studio.

The prices can be found in the PDF price-list that you can download HERE

CAN’T AFFORD IT? … MAKE US AN OFFER!

13 Bridges: Harry Adams Corrected

Jimmy Cauty & Harry Adams
Curated by STOT21

BLACK CUBE GALLERY, FISH ISLAND

13th July - 13th September 2023

"Some artists don't know when to stop, others barely even start. Harry Adams makes a promising start on half imagined landscapes but consistently fails to see the bigger picture.

By deftly dropping a few thousand tons of concrete and tarmac into the unfinished scenes the potential is realised and the completed landscape is now in perfect dis-harmony with 21st century infrastructure."

HEAR THE OAKS SING FOR THE LAST TIME

COLLIDER Part 4 is the final chapter of HARRY ADAMS' Collider series, an extensive exhibition of brand new 'screen paintings' - a mixture of painting and screen printing - enveloping a grove of maturing oak saplings, nurtured with care over the last 4 years by the artist, and returning triumphantly to the scene of their first tentative steps into the real world.

In 2018's Nothing Remains Unchanged But The Clouds, Harry Adams exhibited those formative oaks as escapees from the painterly landscapes - an adversarial provocation to the traditional artform. Here, they return, boldly, in a coming-of-age, to stake their own place, in their own right, before being released into the wild.

From that first happening with us in 2018, through three exhibitions (IRL and online), and a publication, despite an unexpected and ongoing global pandemic, this completion of the Collider life cycle - subtitled A Reprise (The End), is a fitting metaphor for our times. The trees will continue to grow, and thrive. We will continue to grow, and thrive.

At the end, is anything ever really the end?

And dare they will and dare they have!

Finally…we proudly present the World Famous Harry Adams “Will You Die This Year Calendar” for 2021!

With adaptions and improvements for these trying times. Available from the L-13 shop.

an online exhibition and video

NOW AVAILABLE TO VIEW

ONLINE ONLY

As other galleries around the country reopen and eagerly await
the vaccine-drenched return to 'normal',
we here at L-13 once again decide to buck the trend, ignore government advice, and refuse to leave the peace & quiet of lockdown life (and the cold, dark basement).

To that effect this exhibition is only available to view on our website, from now until the end of time.

EXTRACT FROM EXHIBITION NOTES

Harry Adams: COLLIDER part 1

The original HA Collider was a theoretical experiment invented by Harold Rosenbloom Snr for the HA Protocol 2013. The methodology required Marcel Duchamp in one wheelbarrow and Edvard Munch in another, with both being pushed at high speed towards each other through a large cardboard tube by two notable contemporary artists (possibly Martin Creed and Anselm Kiefer, but any would do) until they smash into each other. Rosenbloom conjectured that within the wreckage of that crash a new egalitarian and timeless art would be formed: part mechanical, part human, and of great terror and beauty.
